Victorian Wedding Gowns And A Traditional Wedding?

When you start to think about how many types of weddings there are throughout the world you soon realize that there are many. There are many differences due to cultural upbringing and differences due to the type of theme that is adopted for the occasion. Themes can include beach weddings or informal casual events.

Brides that opt for a more traditional style of wedding often go for a style based on the Victorian era and it goes without saying that a Victorian style dress is selected for the event.

One of the reasons that a Victorian wedding gown is chosen is because the gown itself is a style that is classic in design.

A style that is closely associated with the traditional style of wedding is a Victorian wedding gown.  When most people create picture in their mind of a wedding of the traditional type they tend to picture this style of dress. Generally speaking these types of dresses have a flowing skirt usually made of shimmering material and a tight fitted boddice.

Victorian wedding gowns can accommodate any sleeve length from half to full, but the neck of gown is usually high fastens with a lace collar around the throat area.  It depends on the individual’s tastes but the bodice usually has an intricate design made up of beading and sewing work.

How Do You Find A Victorian Wedding Gown?

Victorian wedding gowns are generally very easy to find because they are so popular right now.  A number of locations will easily stock a wide range and this includes major retailers and specialist bridal shops.  I think it is fair to say the Victorian wedding gowns are one of the best sellers.

Some retailers will provide an expert seamstress in order to make any alterations that the bride needs so that the dress will fit perfectly.  Another added benefit is that these styles of dresses come in a number of different sizes.

These alterations typically include raising the hemline of the gown, taking in the sides of the bodice to create a better fit or altering the design of the gown to better match the style of the wedding.

Victorian wedding gown styles have stood the test of time since the 1800’s so it comes as no shock to see that they are still as popular as they ever were.
